Creation of an energy concept and examination of various options for the use of hydrogen.

Project Description:

The Roner Distillery engaged Hydrocell to create an innovative energy concept aimed at enhancing resource efficiency and energy autonomy at its Tramin (Italy) facility. Key project components included evaluating sustainable energy sources, optimizing the use of byproducts, and developing more autonomous solutions to mitigate fluctuating energy prices. Hydrocell’s approach involved a comprehensive analysis of byproduct logistics, advanced heat and cooling management systems, and on-site power generation. The assessment focused on photovoltaic (PV) potential, biogas use, and other renewable options to reduce reliance on conventional energy and improve cost stability, ultimately aiming to secure a more sustainable, self-sufficient energy setup.

Results:

The evaluation revealed that a solar installation of 615 PV panels could supply more than a third of Roner’s electricity needs, yielding annual savings of over € 50.000. Other renewable options, such as biogas production and heat recovery from byproducts, were also assessed. However, these were found to provide limited financial benefits compared to the proposed PV system, which presents a more immediate impact on energy independence and cost reduction.
